When I first heard they were making RE5 I was really excited because I have loved this series since the first game back in 1996 on the Playstation. After a bit of a letdown with RE4 I was really hopeful that the developers would get this series back on track and produce an awesome game. No such luck. This game is basically RE4 with upgraded graphics. The hordes of "zombies" (if you can really call them that anymore) are just as lame as in RE4. Even if you can get over the fact that the zombies are not really zombies anymore you run into another huge problem. The game controls are really clunky and the camera angles can be an issue at times as well. Now being a fan of this series I know the controls will more than likely be pretty shitty since they always are but, this game is one of the worst because you cannot run or walk with your weapon drawn! This can become annoying very fast when you are being attacked by 20 "zombies" at once.
My biggest complaint about this game is having a "partner" than runs around with you at all times. I guess they were thinking this could be a helpful feature but it turns out to make the game a lot harder than it should be. The artificial intelligence of your partner is worse than the zombies you are supposed to be killing. She spends most of her time wasting all the ammo by randomly shooting into walls, running in front of you to hinder your line of sight, and getting attacked by zombies instead of running away. This really fucking sucks because ammo is so limited and if the bitch dies its game over and you quickly realize she will die a lot. I really feel that had they not added a "partner" to this game I would have enjoyed it a lot more. After about 9-10 hours of game time play I finally had to turn this game off and have no intentions of turning it back on again.
My final verdict on RE5 is that it is a decent game with nice graphics and some pretty nice cut scenes with the ability to upgrade and buy new weapons just like in RE4 but, in the end the clunky controls and having to deal with a brain dead partner just makes this game very frustrating and blah. Worth going out and renting for a few days but, not worthy of a purchase.
